It's 2017 and Bill Pawson opens a letter from his 19 year old self in 1986. He relives his formative teenage years and reflects on his ambitious younger self and where he has wound up thirty years later.

'Dear the Future Bill Pawson' follows Bill in the months after the summer of 'Power Lines'. A reflective film, it sets out to evoke a feeling of nostalgia, a longing for the past, and what once was.

Influence behind 'Power Lines'

'Power Lines' is a film that follows a group of teenagers in the last summer they spend together before they leave home. The film sets out to capture the essence of human nature during the pivotal time at the end of one's teenage years. Throughout the film, the viewer witnesses relationships shift and develop in unexpected ways.

When describing 'Power Lines', we like to draw on works that are comparable in nature, such as Lady Bird (Dir. Greta Gerwig), or The Breakfast Club (Dir. John Hughes). These films are similar in their aesthetic, utilising the beauty of surrounding landscapes to complement the subtleties of the storyline itself as well as distinct 80s settings to enhance the viewers immersion into their world. We aim to capture an audience that is sweeping, from all generations, with every person seeing themselves in one or more of our characters. 'Power Lines' sets out to evoke a feeling of longing and nostalgia, set in 1986, a time where life was simpler without the blatant distraction of mass media cultures.

Influenced by the Italian Neo-Realist cinema movement of the mid-20th century, the film's pace will give everything time. From the characters, to the air that they breathe between sentences, this inspired styling allows for our actors to delve into the minute expressions that carry their performance to the next level. It creates the feeling of observation, that our characters are real just like us.
